System of a Down bassist Shavo Odadjian says there is a very good chance that the band will be entering the studio later this year – and they have already written some songs for the future album.
Madcap Music Review caught up with Odadjian at January’s NAMM show in Anaheim, California and asked him about the chances of the band entering the studio and a future album: “Yeah, there’s a very good chance. I don’t have a date. We’ve already gone. We’ve written some songs. We’re keeping it to ourselves. We’re getting back to the bullshit of being together.”
This isn’t the first time a member of the band has mentioned new material or a new album: singer Serj Tankian and drummer John Dolmayan have both publicly talked about the band creating new music.
The band members last released music together back in 2005 with their “Mezmerize” and “Hypnotize” albums, but have been back touring together since 2011.
They are due to start on a European tour on April 10th to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Armenian genocide, the tour will conclude on April 23rd in Yerevan, Armenia.
