The family of the Slipknot bassist Paul Gray have succeeded in their wrongful death suit.
They had filed suit against Dr. Daniel Baldi, who had been treating Gray at the time of his death by overdose on morphine and fentanyl back in 2010, and the company he was employed with. The suit alleged that Baldi was recklessly prescribing pain medications to at risk patients.
An initial case filed by Gray’s widow was dismissed by the courts due to the statute of limitations, but a suit filed on behalf of Gray’s daughter was allowed to proceed. The case was due to go to trial this week, but a settlement was agreed over the weekend.
In 2014 Baldi was acquitted by a jury on 10 counts of involuntary manslaughter filed against him for a series of deaths by his patients, he has had his medical license reinstated and works as an anaesthesiologist in the Des Moines, Iowa area.
